Observations From Around the World: Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Japan- opened 5 April 1998.
On 5 April 1998, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, linking Shikoku and Honshu, opened and became the largest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge cost approximately $3.8 billion.
