Cold War History- Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, the first American civilians put to death under Section 2 of the Espionage Act, were executed by electric chair at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility NYC on the 19th of June 1953 after being convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage in a time of war. Charges were related to passing atomic bomb secrets to Russian agents.
