The marriage between Junge, Hitler's personal adjutant and his personal secretary was suggested by Hitler. Less than a month after the wedding, Junge's request for assignment to a combat unit was granted. He was killed in action at an Allied aircraft ground attack in France on 13 August, 1944. The couple are accompanied by the Fürher's chief personal valet, Heinz Linge (left) and the Führer's driver, Erich Kempka.
