World War II in Pictures- British Prime Minister Winston Churchill launches the "V for Victory" Campaign on 19 July 1941.
He urges all European nations
resisting Nazi occupation to use the letter V in the media. The letter
stood not only for "victory," but as a symbol of the "unconquerable will
of the occupied territories and a portent of the fate awaiting Nazi
tyranny."
