Pop Culture History- Addams Family cartoon debuted 6 April 1938 in "The New Yorker" magazine.

Debut- Addams Family: Charles Addams, a cartoonist for The New Yorker, became famous for his satirically grim depictions of the modern family, otherwise known as The Addams Family. At first, the Addams were a nameless group, premiering on April 6, 1938 with the above one-panel strip about a vacuum. Once the television show was in development, Charles Addams was asked to finally name his characters.
